VOLUNTEER ESOL TUTORS NEEDED!
ESOL Volunteer Tutors required to teach Beginner’s English to asylum seekers and refugees in a class setting. You will work as a member of a team of volunteer tutors under the supervision of the CLEAR ESOL Coordinator. Class size: 10-18. 3 LSAs. Where staffing levels permit, tutors team teach in pairs. A regular commitment of 3 hours a week is required.
Essential Skills:
• Trained or training as ESOL teacher and/or with substantial ESOL experience (CELTA qualification).
• Good communication skills.
• Patient and encouraging.
• Ability to lead a small team.
Desirable Skills:
• Experience of teaching students with low or no literacy skills, or literate in non-Roman scripts.
• Experience of teaching reading skills to infants and juniors is helpful.
