Types of accommodation
Another word for home is accommodation. There are different types of accommodation.
Bed and Breakfast
There are hostels and bed and breakfast (B&B) hotels.

Council Homes
There are Council and Housing Association homes.

Rented accommodation
There is private, rented accommodation.

Buy your own house
There is privately owned accommodation; for example when you buy your own home.

Check your Tenancy Agreement carefully
Make sure that the condition of the property and any furniture is recorded in an inventory. Make sure that the Tenancy Agreement states:
Get Tenancy Deposit Protection
Your landlord must put the deposit in a special scheme. There are three different schemes. They must tell you which scheme they use within 14 days of the Tenancy Agreement. If they don't tell you, you can take them to court.
Southampton City Council can give you advice
Southampton City Council can give general housing advice. It also has a service called the Home Seekers Letting Service. This service helps people who want to find private rented accommodation. They can also help if your landlord is threatening to evict you.
They may also be able to help with a deposit bond
In some cases they can help with a deposit bond if needed.
