Southampton Police have an officer dedicated to working with New Communities called Constable Ahmed Sasso who is the Diverse Community Engagement Officer (DCEO). His role is wide ranging and includes areas such as ‘Hate Crimes’ (for example racial harassment). He also covers conflict between different communities, called ‘Community Tensions’. Constable Ahmed Sasso is keen to meet people from different ethnic communities across Southampton in order to better understand their needs and ensure that they are able to live in peace and security without fear of harassment or attack. Constable Sasso works closely with other partner agencies, working towards providing ‘Safer’ communities.
